Wright Flyer

The Air Force Association’s Thunderbird Chapter proudly presents the AFA Wright Flyer—a detailed replica of the historic 1905 Wright Flyer, celebrating the centennial of powered flight. Crafted with state-of-the-art composite materials, this authentic replica toured nationwide during the 100th-anniversary celebrations. On May 28, 2003, the Flyer was prominently displayed alongside modern jets at Nellis Air Force Base, symbolizing a century of aviation advancement.

In May 2017, the Wright Flyer found a new home at Rancho High School’s Aviation Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada, continuing its mission to inspire the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.
